24 May Almost there!
My name is Stephanie and I will soon be a Biology Technician at Capulin Volcano National Monument in New Mexico. I am currently in the middle of my road trip to Capulin from Santa Cruz, California which will be a three day adventure. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Once at Capulin I will be working with a hummingbird researcher to gather data on hummingbird migration and pollination, and how that is being affected by climate change. One aspect of my internship will involve banding hummingbirds in order to collect data for a long-term study between the park and other partners. I will also be creating a pollen identification guide, as well as working in the park nursery to cultivate native flowering plants. I am extremely excited to begin my internship later this week, and will have more details to share then!
