21 May Hello World!
Hello! My name is Saba Asefa and I am one of the Science Communication interns at Rocky Mountain National Park this summer. I am originally from Columbus, OH and have had a love for geology and the outdoors since I was a child. I went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN for Earth & Environmental Sciences because I wanted to gain skills and learn more about geology and environmental sciences. While in undergrad, I did research looking at volcanos in Iceland. Then I moved to Bellingham, WA for a Geology Master’s program at Western Washington University. My thesis project was about gauging air pollution using leaves as biomonitors in Seattle. I recently graduated this Spring and look forward to a rewarding and exciting summer working in Rocky Mountain National Park!

What a great place you will be. I went for the first time to the Rocky mountains last summer for the MIS workshop and I was blown away by the beauty of this place. As a fellow geologist (just finished my master last December) I can’t wait to read more about your internship and be transported to the Rockies by your pictures.

Glad to hear that the Rockies are as beautiful as the pictures I’ve seen. This will be my first time there, so I look forward to exploring the geology. Thanks for following my blog!
