25 Jun Greetings from Zion!
Greetings from Zion National Park!
Hello. My name is Camille Burrus. I am interning this summer at the beautiful Zion National Park. I have had the honor to work with the desert tortoise. Although the tortoises are currently burrowing underground to avoid the heat, I did have the chance to see one of these elusive animals for myself recently. They are very gentle animals with a lot of character! My main work this summer focuses on the conservation of the desert tortoise. With the help of my supervisors and co-workers, I will be developing a video to publish via Zion’s website about the tortoise.
I have also had the privilege to work with other threatened and endangered species since I have arrived, such as: big horn sheep, peregrine falcon, and even the California condor.
I am truly grateful to be at Zion this summer to experience these amazing animals and learn many new skills. I also look forward to keeping you all updated on my journey!
Until next time!
