Week 1: Getting to Know the Author

Hello, my name is Aliya Khan. I am a Mosaics in Science intern working at Manassas National Battlefield Park this summer. I am originally from Washington DC but grew up abroad in Malaysia, Thailand and Spain before moving back to DC and attending high school in Maryland. Currently I am a third-year student at the University of British Columbia majoring in Natural Resource Conservation with an emphasis on science and management. This summer in Manassas I will be working as a member of the Natural Resources crew on a number of projects around the park including monitoring bobwhite quail and other grassland birds, monitoring deer exclosures, managing invasive plants and doing water quality monitoring. This is my second Mosaics in Science internship, last summer I worked as an intern on the botany crew at Shenandoah National Park.
