23 Jul A special weekend

After the webinar on applying to graduate school we had on Tuesday, July 9th, I was inspired by the words of Ricardo Escobar. Indeed, we must treat ourselves and explore the surroundings of our park more. This made me think about Sierra Vista, Bisbee, and México which are very near, but I haven’t seen much of it. So, last Saturday I went to the Bisbee Farmers Market and ended up buying a lot of veggies and organic products. The food was great, fresh, delicious and the best of all, it was cheap. On Sunday, I finally crossed the border to visit Naco in Sonora, México with the other two GIPs and my supervisor to have lunch. The tacos were delicious and not expensive. The ones I had are called huarache tacos and are made up of a corn tortilla with meat, refried beans, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and salsa. Also, we tasted around ten hot sauces at the restaurant ranging from mild to astonishingly hot, which was quite an experience. After lunch, we walked around a couple of blocks to look around and then went back to the US. The town was beautiful, and the people were very nice. I can’t wait to go back and explore other areas of México and around the park.
