¡Hola! Welcome to our Mosaics in Science Diversity Internship program ! I am Sheylda Díaz-Méndez, the MIS coordinator for  Environment for the Americas, a partner based in Colorado. Last year, I was invited to collaborate with MIS to do site visit. I was amazed the NPS had an opportunity like this! The concept of diversity in an NPS youth program delighted me. After a second site visit, which was to the Rocky Mountain National Park, I unquestionably wanted to be a part of the Mosaics team. I fell in love with the park, the experience and the people.

I know this internship will be the start of an exciting career in Science. For some of you, it may be the first opportunity working in a federal agency. This program is designed for you to learn, to contribute in an ongoing project and have fun! As a university professor, I have worked with undergraduate and graduate students; but I found selected interns in MIS are truly remarkable scholars. I am very happy to be here, and happy to facilitate YOUR process in becoming a colleague as a natural resource scientist!
