27 May About My Park
I will be working at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. GSMNP is located within the parent range of the southern Appalachian Mountains and encompasses land in both eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. GSMNP is the most visited national park in the United States, and sees visitors from all over the country to enjoy the various attractions the park has to offer. Hikers can enjoy the miles of scenic hiking trails within the park as well as the Appalachian Trail. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy viewing native species of bird, as well as black bears, elk, and even the red-cheeked salamander, which is only found in the Smokies! Anglers can expect to encounter many species of native gamefish, most notably the southern Appalachian brook trout, smallmouth bass, and rock bass! I feel very privileged to call Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Great Smoky Mountains National Park my home for the next 11 weeks! My next post will include personal experiences as I will be arriving at the park in just a few short days!
