21 May Intro: Justin Wilson
Hey, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Justin! I graduated with my BS in natural resources and environmental science from Purdue University in May 2019. My current professional interests are geared toward grad school, likely for a Ph.D. in psychology.
I have always found personal relief being in nature and I believe that other people can similarly find relief, perhaps with some guidance and empathy. Understanding people and their drivers’ to help people understand themselves and each other has always been one of my passions. My academic and personal trials so far have been about accomplishing those same things for myself; figuring out who I want to be, what compels me to reach my goals, and how I’ll do it. Now, I have a solid understanding of who and what, and this program is the first step in figuring out how I’ll bring what I’ve learned forward to shape my career and life.
This summer I will be a Mosaics In Science intern working with Environment For The Americas at Fire Island National Seashore, and I am more than ready to get to work. I’ll mainly be doing conducting research and surveys on the local marsh birds. As a photography lover, bird watcher, and someone who generally enjoys watching animals in their natural habitat, I am excited to be able to learn about bird conservation and habitat preservation techniques. I may even be able to get some cool action shots if I’m lucky!
