28 May Welcome to Mount Rushmore and The Northern Great Plains Network
This summer I will be working in multiple NPS offices; Mount Rushmore National Memorial and the Northern Great Plains Network (NGPN).
At Mount Rushmore I will be mapping social trails with GIS to determine how to restore and protect the vegetation affected in those areas. With this information I will create social media campaigns to promote the preservation of specific vegetation and discourage the use of unauthorized trails.
At NGPN I will be helping the crew measure and monitor vegetation in parks across South Dakota. This information is useful for tracking invasive species and preventing them from spreading. Monitoring plant populations can help prevent forest fires and can aid in protecting vulnerable species.
I’m so excited to start working with these teams in such a unique place.
