A Fruitful Beginning: Journey of Setting up Fog Monitoring Station

Two fog monitoring stations ready for deployment

Hello everyone!

Taro here, checking in with an update on our fog monitoring project at Cabrillo National Monument!

Things have been very busy here! Since Cabrillo is a park right next to the San Diego Bay, it gets many, many visitors — almost one million each year! Cabrillo’s ease of accessibility is one of the many cool things about the park.

Look who showed up to the party!

A lot has happened in the last two weeks, so I will guide you through my experience the best I can in chronological order.

The first thing we fog fellows had to figure out was what the fog monitoring stations even looked like.

We did a little unboxing and admired all the equipment. We have 12 leaf wetness sensors, 2 climaVUE weather stations, 2 (pending) Davis Vantage weather stations, 4 solar panels, and 4 dataloggers.
