First Week at Olympic National Park

First Week at Olympic National Park

As a Science Communication intern for Mosaics in Science, I was given the opportunity to work in Olympic National Park! I arrived here at the end of June, a perfect time to see the Gray Whale migration. Through the generosity of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, I got to go on a boat tour to observe the whales. Though I only got to see a glimpse of the whale spouts, I also got to see seabirds and marine life including Pacific Harbor Seals sunbathing on the rugged rocks and Tufted Puffins feeding on small fish and squids. It’s hard for me to believe that I got to gain such an amazing experience in my first week here. I can’t wait to see what’s more to come!
