Kta’n Weeden – Aquatic Ecologist Intern introduction

Wunee Keesuq nutusawees Kta’n Weeden. (Good day everyone my name is Kta’n Weeden.)

I’m from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe here in Massachusetts, Cape cod Area. This my second time being an intern for the National Park Service here at Cape Cod National Seashore.

I’m excited to work with other interns and mentors and learn more about Eel Grass and working on restoring our eel grass bays. The oceans here on cape are very important to me, my tribe, Aswell as the people who live here on Cape Cod.

I also have a personal connection with the Ocean because my name “Kta’n” is the word ocean in the Mikma’q language. So naturally I grew up loving the ocean and all sorts of bodies of water.

I’m glad to meet you all and hope you all have a good summer!
